Ryan Hynek has been living in Hong Kong for nearly ten years, but he’ll be hard-pressed to call anywhere but Chicago, Illinois his home. He’s the first to admit that his job as an English teacher at a local secondary school provides him with most of his comedic inspiration, along with a captive, non-voluntary, audience of students to test his bits.
Before coming to HK, Ryan was a television news producer for a CBS affiliate in Missouri. But even though his newscasts were often unintentionally hysterical, he feels that teaching and comedy are keeping him far happier.
Since starting with TakeOut Comedy over two years ago, Ryan has finished as a finalist in the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition. He’s also been stirring it up at comedy venues around HK, Macau and Chicago.
