A Voice from Hong Kong
Hi Jami-
Just accidentally came across your web site. Sounds great!
I was captivated by your bio. Reading about your grandmother compelled
me to 'get in touch" with you. Loved the 'beginnings"
about Take Out Comedy and your grandmother. She sounded like a gorgeous
lady, someone all kids need in their childhood years.
My life seems to have mirrored yours. Originally from Boston (since
age 2), my husband & I moved to Hong Kong 10 years ago. Since
then, we have built a family of 5 kids (all under 10 years old)
and made HK our home by choice. Our friends have become our family
here. Some day we expect to return to our home in Cambridge, MA,
but hopefully not too soon as I really love this city for MANY reasons.
My origin is Japanese, although my friends/colleagues don't seem
to remember/see that. My husband is your typical 'gweilo" American,
so our kids are your run-of-the mill Eurasian type. Dime a dozen
here in HK.
Looking for something to do next weekend w/ friends, I did a search
on Google for some good 'Comedy in Hong Kong." I came up with
loads, NONE in Hong Kong! Yours was the first I clicked on. Unfortunately,
none of us are ready to fly off to NYC Chinatown for some weekend
entertainment, but I hope to catch one of your shows the next time
I am in NYC. Still have several friends there and am always eager
to pay the Big Apple a visit. Looking at next summer for start....seriously.
Grandma/granddad (in Boston) have promised our kids tix to Lion
King.
Before I bore you too much, I will finally get to the reason for
emailing you: a simple message. Good Luck on Take Out Comedy! I
wish you all the best success in achieving your goal in spreading
your vision across all the Chinatowns of America, and beyond? We
have family in SFO too, so maybe some day we'll get to see you out
west.
Having started two children-related businesses in Hong Kong, and
my husband going independent from his bank 3 years ago, we know
the trials and tribulations of being an Entrepreneur. If we ever
come across any good local comedian, I'll pass them on your way.
Better still, send some our way. We could really go for some good
quality comedians in HK.
Here's to perseverance! Best to you and your team, Jami.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
